Questions We’re Often Asked
Highgate Village has a lot of tiny roads – will that pose an issue?
One of the many attractive features of Highgate is the village-like feel that it has, so rare in most modern cities. Part of what makes it feel that way is the network of narrow winding roads, from Millfield Lane to Swains Lane.
Luckily, we have a lot of experience navigating areas like this – over 103 years of experience in fact. That depth of experience means that we’re rarely surprised by a narrow road, even if others might be.
Highgate, like a lot of other areas in North London, does have a lot of parking restrictions. This might mean that you’ll likely need to arrange for a parking ban suspension on the day of the move. We have a page on our website where you can find the contact details for each individual council to arrange for that suspension; Highgate covers three boroughs – Camden, Islington and Haringey, so which one you’ll need to contact will depend on where exactly in Highgate you’re located.
How should I prepare for moving day?
Here at Twilleys, our core purpose revolves around making your move as hassle-free as possible. That means that we can be as involved as little or as much as you require – you just need to tell us what you need help with.
That could simply be moving big pieces of furniture and appliances on the moving day, or it could be more involved assistance like helping with boxing up your more delicate items. All we need is for you to let us know what you need help with, and to keep us informed on dates and updates as soon as you can.
There’s a gap between my moving in and moving out dates – what should I do?
Really, it’s only in movies that moving in and moving out dates perfectly line up. In the real world, things are rarely that easy – it might be a few days, or it could be months between the two dates. That’s why, in addition to our Highgate removal service, we offer a storage solution service. We can pick up your belongings from your old home, store them in our secure storage facility for as long as you need and then when you’re ready, drop everything off again at your new house.
We’re moving to Highgate from another location in North London – can you still help?
We don’t just cover Highgate, we cover the whole North London area. While that area has changed a lot over the 103 years we’ve been in operation, we’ve watched it evolve and learned to adapt to the changes. If you want to know if we cover your exact area, the simplest way to find out will likely be by requesting a quote. You can do this by filling in our online form, requesting a video survey, or calling us on 020 8888 5156.
