Walthamstow – The new hotspot

Walthamstow has long been considered up and coming due to it’s quick and easy links to Central London and it’s village-like feeling.

For years the area has attracted families who have been priced out of areas such as Crouch End and Islington. The increased pull towards E17 reflects the growing trend towards London’s peripheral towns.

Parks and green areas

If you’re looking to get back to nature, then Walthamstow Reservoir is for you. The 74 acre land allows you to fish in the rivers and lakes and is additionally a bird sanctuary, so bird spotters eat your heart out!

If that sounds too small for you, there’s also Epping Forest which is a whopping 6,000 square acres of protected woodland, the largest in London.

Housing in Walthamstow

Excitingly, the average house price of Walthamstow is currently lower than the London average!

The area has claimed one of the top spots of the ‘40 first-time buyer hotspots’, due to its affordability. An astonishing six out of 10 houses bought are sold to first timers, as they’re willing to move further out of London to get the price they want.

Public transport

The nighttube also means there’s an added desire for the Waltham Forest area. Easy access to the rest of London, day or night, definitely pushes Walthamstow up the Move-To list.

Along with the convenience of being only 14 minutes away from Kings Cross and 19 minutes away from Liverpool Street, travelling around London from this Zone 3 area couldn’t be easier.

Walthamstow is the new village

Walthamstow Village is one of the oldest in London, dating back to 1076 when the rural farming communities population was just 82. Though the area is increasingly gentrified it has still managed to maintain its rich history and unique village-like feel.

With future plans to develop Walthamstow further, it will become a diverse mix of old & unique and new & improved.

The area benefited from a government program in 2016  changing roads into public spaces to reduce traffic, improve safety and encourage sustainable travel.

Questions We’re Often Asked

Do you solely operate in Walthamstow?

In short, no, our services extend far beyond the area surrounding Walthamstow. Our core area of operations is the general North London area, and while we’re well accustomed to operating in the village-like spaces of Walthamstow, the range of our services extends to urban centres like Kings Cross and the canal backed streets of Camden Town.

We believe that in order to provide a service that our customers will find effective throughout their lives, it is not appropriate to operate in just one location. It’s no longer common that people live in one neighbourhood their whole lives – as we change and grow older, so do our needs, including the kinds of places we want to live in. As a home removals company, we’re here to help facilitate those changes, to make the transitions as smooth as possible.

We’re currently in Walthamstow, but are looking to move further afield; can you help us?

We can, yes. As we mentioned above, we don’t solely operate in Walthamstow, and should be able to help you move your home or business anywhere in the London area. If you have any specific questions or concerns, about the areas we cover or anything else, we’ll do our best to answer them if you call our team on 020 8888 5156.

Our place in Walthamstow is on a small lane – will you be able to access it?

Often, living in a slightly more remote area such as Walthamstow means that your house isn’t as accessible as it would be in a more densely populated area – indeed this is often part of the appeal of such places! Our team are experts at getting to inaccessible places, and while of course it is possible that your place is just too far up a windy dirt track for our vehicles to access it, we’ll probably be fine. If you’re concerned, call us and you can discuss the details with our team.

What can I do if there’s a gap between our move out and move in dates?

While in an ideal world, the two dates would always coincide, that is often not the case. Thankfully, with our storage solutions, it isn’t a problem. Should there be a gap between when you need your possessions picked up and dropped off, we can take them to our storage facilities, where they can remain until you need them again.
